Captain Sunil Chetri has been substantial for the club as he pushes and motivates his teammates. The players are always alert with India captain Sunil Ricochet in the thick of things. They are tough in set-piece situations. Korean Kim Seong Yong is also one of the top goal scorer and aggressive attacker of the blues. I-League winners bid goodbye to its Head coach Ashely Westwood
The 2013-14 and 2015-16 I-League winners bid goodbye to its Head coach Ashely Westwood on May 31. Westwood was the force behind the clubs many achievements in its short history. He had a vital role to play in putting Bengaluru FC on the football map. Albert Roca set to replace Westwood for the coach position. It would be difficult for him to fill in previous coachs massive shoes. The brand of football that Blues play show that the trophy wn’t be leaving them soon. Its understandable they will fight. The Bengaluru fans are also a considerable advantage as they have a dedicated fan base that cheer and drive them.
The club has also won the Federation Cup in 2014
Sunil Chhetri took Bengaluru FC a step closer to the AFC Cup semifinals by scoring twice in the clubs 3-2 victory over Kitchee FC champions of Hong Kong. He scored a hat-trick when he led Mumbai to a 5-1 win over Northeast United FC, he became the first Indian to pull off such a feat. He ended the season on a high note as he was the top Indian goal scorer of the ISL 2015.
BFC has continued to improve every season, even though they face stiff competition from East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. Bengaluru dominate their opponents as they are strong in defense and creative up front. Its not easy for any club to win a big title in their first year. I-League has been a great experience for the clubs and spectators alike. A new era waits for Indian football as it is witnessing the birth of a new generation innovative, skilled and keen.
